Tokyo Pokémon Center murder suspect dies after attack, police file charges

A female employee at the Pokémon Center in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district was stabbed to death in March 2026. Police identified the attacker as Hirokawa Daiki, a former boyfriend who had previously been arrested for stalking the victim. After stabbing the employee, Hirokawa also stabbed himself and died at the scene. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police have filed a murder charge and a violation of the Stalker Regulation Act against Hirokawa, recording the case as a deceased suspect.

The investigation confirmed that Hirokawa had been subject to a restraining order a month before the killing, and authorities concluded his violent act stemmed from an obsessive attachment to the victim.
