Tokyo public baths and hot springs guide

Tokyo offers a variety of day-trip hot spring and public bath experiences, ranging from natural valley settings to urban sento. In the Tama area, facilities such as Akigawa Valley Seo-no-yu provide a nature-focused experience with forest and valley views. Other notable options include Jindaiji Natural Hot Spring Yumori-no-sato, which is well-suited for visitors combining a soak with sightseeing at nearby temples and parks, and Kawabe Onsen Umeno-yu, which offers convenient access near JR Kawabe Station.

In the Kamata area of Ota Ward, the district is known as a “hot spring village” due to its unique black water (kuroyu) natural springs. While the famous Kamata Onsen is currently closed for renovations until April 2027, other establishments like Yu-City Kamata remain active. Yu-City Kamata features diverse bathing options including jacuzzi baths and black water outdoor baths, as well as a third-floor dining and karaoke area. Nearby, Tenjin-yu offers soft water baths close to the Keikyu Kamata Station area.
