Tokyo to dispatch Toei Bus vehicles to assist Chiba typhoon recovery
Following severe damage caused by Typhoon 25, which resulted in landslides on the JR Uchibo Line in Chiba Prefecture, transportation services are facing significant disruptions. Repairs to the tracks between Anesaki and Kisarazu are expected to take at least three months.
To mitigate the impact on commuters, Kominato Railway has launched a three-day temporary bus service between Anesaki and Nagaura stations, running through October 2. Future operations beyond this period will be determined based on passenger demand.
Addressing the critical shortage of bus drivers and vehicles for large-scale replacement services, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has announced it will dispatch 10 Toei Bus vehicles along with a team of staff. To manage resources, Tokyo is considering deploying personnel with driving experience from the Bureau of Transportation rather than active route drivers, following discussions with JR East and national authorities.
