Tokyo to host major climate and energy forums in 2026
Two major climate and energy forums are scheduled to take place in Tokyo in late 2026 to address decarbonization and sustainable urban development.
On October 6, 2026, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will host the “TIME TO ACT FORUM 2026: The Climate Crisis and the Energy Frontier.” This hybrid event focuses on building resilient urban environments and exploring new energy frontiers. Supported by C40 Cities and ICLEI, the forum serves as a “Town Hall COP,” aiming to connect local climate initiatives with international UNFCCC dialogues. The venue will be powered entirely by renewable energy.
Additionally, the Japan Climate Initiative (JCI) will hold the “Climate Change Action Japan Summit 2026” on October 2, 2026, at the United Nations University. The summit will address the complexities of the energy transition, including energy security, nature positivity, and the circular economy. Discussions will focus on how organizations can make integrated decisions amidst resource constraints and the vulnerabilities of fossil fuel dependency.
