Tokyo to host major design festival and sustainable winter illumination in 2026
Tokyo will host two major cultural and design events in late 2026. DESIGNART TOKYO 2026, a large-scale design and art festival, is scheduled to run from October 30 to November 8. The event will feature presentations across various districts, with the main venue located at the KK Line (former Tokyo Expressway). The space, designed by ALTEMY, will host the ‘AUTOBAHN’ exhibition featuring approximately 65 creators from Japan and abroad.
Additionally, the Tokyo Square Garden Winter Illumination will take place from November 5, 2026, to January 31, 2027, in the Kyobashi area. The display will utilize approximately 170,000 LED bulbs powered entirely by renewable energy. This year’s event features a collaboration with the creative company Heralbony, showcasing a Christmas tree inspired by the artwork of artist Sosei Tokinaga.
