Tokyo Verdy dismisses manager Hiroshi Jofuku

Tokyo Verdy has announced the termination of manager Hiroshi Jofuku’s contract following a difficult start to the J1 League season. Under Jofuku’s leadership since June 2022, the club achieved a significant milestone by securing promotion to J1 in 2023 after a 16-year absence, followed by a strong 6th-place finish in 2024.

However, the team has struggled in the current campaign, remaining winless through eight matches and sitting in 19th place in the relegation zone. Jofuku expressed regret over his departure, stating, “It is regrettable and I feel full of apologies for not being able to meet everyone’s expectations.”

Head coach Hitoshi Morishita will serve as the interim manager for the upcoming Emperor's Cup third-round match against Gainare Tottori on July 7. The club has not yet announced a permanent successor.
