Tokyo's Sunshine City hosts popular cosplay festival

The acosta! cosplay event took place at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. One edition ran from May 5‑10 as a Golden Week special, limiting attendance to 30 % of capacity and featuring themed days for students, participants over 25, cross‑dressing and all‑genre showcases. A later edition was held on May 23‑24, drawing large crowds of cosplayers and photographers.

Attendees displayed costumes from a wide range of games and anime, including Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, NIKKE, Precure, and popular VTuber personalities. The event highlighted high‑quality craft and photo‑journalism, with many participants praised for their attention to detail and expressive performances.

The festival underscored the strong interest in cosplay culture in Japan, offering fans a venue to showcase characters from both domestic and international franchises.
