Tolea Ciumac arrested after violent fight in Bucharest

MMA fighter Anatoli ‘Tolea’ Ciumac has been placed in 30-day preventive detention following a violent altercation in Bucharest’s Old Town. The incident, which occurred on September 12, 2026, involved Ciumac and fellow professional fighter Daniel Ciudin, known as Danu Spartanu.

Police from Section 27 launched an investigation after video footage of the fight circulated on social media. While the conflict reportedly began as a mutual physical aggression, authorities stated that the situation escalated, with Ciumac repeatedly striking the other man.

Notably, the victim, Danu Spartanu, declined to file a formal criminal complaint and refused a forensic medical examination. Despite this, the Bucharest Police proceeded with an official investigation. Ciumac faces charges of assault or other violence and disturbing public order and peace.

The two fighters were scheduled to face each other in an official MMA match at a Heroes MMA gala in Buzău on October 30. Some reports suggest the altercation may have been an uncontrolled escalation of a marketing strategy or a joke that turned violent.
