Toledo Airport hit by windstorm, damaging aircraft and hangars

A severe windstorm struck Toledo Airport in western Paraná on Tuesday night, causing significant destruction to airport infrastructure. Initial estimates suggest that between 10 and 12 aircraft located inside hangars were damaged. The storm destroyed hangars and tore off metal structures and roofing, scattering debris across the airport grounds and runways.

The storm also impacted the PR-182 highway, which connects Toledo to Palotina. Metal structures were thrown onto the road, resulting in a total closure of the highway in both directions. At least four vehicles were hit by debris, and one occupant of a vehicle sustained minor injuries.

In addition to the airfield damage, the passenger terminal was affected by flooding as rain entered the building. Emergency response teams, including the Fire Department, Civil Defense, and Municipal Guard, were deployed to manage the debris and assist motorists. The full extent of the economic losses is still being assessed.
