Toledo Council and Archbishop Coordinate Wildfire Response in Central Spain

The provincial council of Toledo, led by President Concepción Cedillo, announced continued collaboration with emergency services to combat the severe forest fires that have affected the provinces of Toledo, Ávila and Madrid. Cedillo praised the work of the Consorcio Provincial de Extinción de Incendios y Salvamento and its firefighters, highlighted the use of the Talavera de la Reina fairgrounds as an evacuation centre, and urged residents to follow safety instructions.

Archbishop Francisco Cerro Chaves of the Archdiocese of Toledo called for a three‑day prayer vigil (July 28‑30) across all parishes, chapels and religious communities, asking the faithful to pray for the firefighters, security forces and volunteers battling the fires. The archbishop stressed that prayer should accompany the practical efforts to protect lives and the environment.
