Brazil law enforcement targets smuggling, drug trafficking, and investment fraud
Brazilian authorities have launched several major operations targeting diverse criminal activities across the country.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, Operação Perfume de Mulher is investigating a clandestine perfume smuggling ring, primarily involving Arabic products, that moved over R$ 300 million. The group allegedly used the Paraguay border at Ponta Porã to import goods, which were then distributed through warehouses in Campo Grande, São Paulo, and Pernambuco using fraudulent invoices and crypto-assets.
In Maceió, Operação Icarus resulted in the arrest of a high-level drug supplier known as ‘Boss,’ linked to the Comando Vermelho. The investigation suggests the group moved more than R$ 70 million by using logistics companies to transport narcotics between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Additionally, Operação Paládio is targeting a group suspected of orchestrating multimillion-dollar investment scams. The suspects allegedly lured victims with promises of high returns in agribusiness and real estate, using sophisticated digital platforms to maintain credibility while misappropriating funds.
