Toledo Provincial Council renews educational hiking program

The Provincial Council of Toledo has announced the continuation of its ‘Senderismo Didáctico’ (Didactic Hiking) program for the 2026-2027 academic year. Managed by the Service of Agriculture, Environment, and Rural World, the initiative is designed for 5th and 6th grade primary school students.

The program offers access to 33 routes within the province's network of approved trails, combining physical activity with environmental education. Marina García, the deputy for Environment, Agriculture, and Livestock, stated that the program aims to teach children the importance of protecting natural resources by experiencing them firsthand.

A new feature for the upcoming season is a financial aid package to assist schools with transportation costs. An initial allocation of 4,000 euros will be distributed among participating schools that utilize public transportation to reach their chosen hiking routes.
