Toledo teacher reaches sixth consecutive SIMO Educación final

Ernesto Bautista Santurino Díaz, a physical education teacher at the CRA Villas del Tajo rural school in Toledo, has reached the finals of the SIMO Educación 2026 Educational Innovation Awards for the sixth consecutive year.

His latest project, ‘Clash RoyalEF’, is an alternative sport that adapts the mechanics of the mobile video game Clash Royale into physical activities. The project translates digital elements such as cards, characters, towers, and strategic resource management into real-world motor skills, requiring students to move, attack, defend, and cooperate in a physical space.

Since 2021, Santurino has maintained a consistent presence at the national awards. His previous projects include ‘PokEFmon’ (winner in 2022) and ‘EF Ministerio del Tiempo’, which received dual recognition in 2025 for Best Experience with Active Methodologies and Special Award for Most Innovative Teaching Experience.
