Toledo to host Castilla-La Mancha's first clinical research unit

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has awarded a contract worth 670,972 euros to the company CIECA, S. L. to establish the region's first Clinical Research Unit (UICAM). The facility will be located on the fourth floor of Building C at the Hospital Universitario de Toledo.

The project includes one month for drafting the execution project and health and safety studies, followed by three months of renovation works. The goal is to complete the space adaptation and equipment installation within this year, with clinical activities and the first trials expected to begin in early 2027.

Spanning over 300 square meters, the unit will feature medical consultation rooms, a day hospital with six stations and two beds, and a specialized pharmacy for managing clinical trial medications. Although physically based in Toledo, the UICAM is designed to serve as a regional hub to coordinate and boost clinical research across all hospitals in Castilla-La Mancha.
