Tolentino reopens Duomo di San Catervo for patron saint celebrations
The city of Tolentino is celebrating its patron saint, San Catervo, marking a significant milestone with the reopening of the Duomo di San Catervo. The cathedral's reopening comes ten years after the 2016 earthquake that struck Central Italy.
During the reopening ceremony, Bishop Nazzareno Marconi emphasized that the cathedral is not only a religious reference point but also a guardian of centuries of history and a vital resource for local tourism. The Duomo houses the precious early Christian sarcophagus of San Catervo, a 4th-century Roman official and senator.
The festivities include a solemn Eucharistic celebration and a traditional procession. Additional cultural events scheduled for the weekend include the Divento Festival at Politeama/Fabrica City, the Pink Parade Pittarosso, and the launch of the new theatrical season at Teatro Vaccai.
