Tolhuin Municipality secures permanent control of Termas del Río Valdez
The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation has finalized a ruling granting the Municipality of Tolhuin full control over the Termas del Río Valdez, ending a long-standing legal dispute. The court rejected an appeal by the company Transporte Roanmat S.R.L., upholding a previous decision by the Superior Tribunal of Justice of Tierra del Fuego that ordered the restitution of the approximately 400-hectare thermal site to the local administration.
Following the legal victory, the Tolhuin Deliberative Council has approved a new regulatory framework and fee schedule for the municipal thermal park. The new regime establishes differentiated rates for residents, national and foreign visitors, minors, retirees, and persons with disabilities. It also includes free access for children under three and free parking for private vehicles registered in Tolhuin.
To boost the local economy, the municipality is implementing a tourism and commercial integration system. This mechanism uses a voucher system designed to encourage visitors to use services and establishments within the city of Tolhuin.
