Tolhuin officials debate lower tariffs for Termas del Río Valdez

The Tolhuin City Council is debating the entry fees for the Termas del Río Valdez complex. Council members have proposed an alternative pricing structure that is significantly lower than the Executive branch's initial plan. For national visitors, the council proposes a fee of $17,320, compared to the Executive's proposed $31,998. Parking fees for cars and trucks are also under review, with a proposed reduction from $60,013 to $21,650.

The council's alternative plan includes tiered pricing for residents of Tolhuin, Río Grande, and Ushuaia, as well as specific rates for children and retirees. Both the municipal proposal and the council's alternative maintain free entry for children under five and people with disabilities.

Tolhuin Mayor Daniel Harrington has requested that the debate be supported by technical, economic, or legal studies rather than purely political positions. Harrington stated he is not questioning the debate itself but seeks concrete data regarding market knowledge, operating costs, and functional prices to ensure the sustainability of the thermal complex while maintaining community accessibility.
