Tolima authorities debunk fake FARC-EP pamphlet targeting fuel transport

Authorities in the Tolima department of Colombia have debunked a fraudulent pamphlet attributed to the FARC-EP’s Jerónimo Galeano Front. The document, which circulated via social media and messaging apps, falsely claimed that illegal armed groups would impose restrictions on fuel transport vehicles in the municipalities of Ataco, Santiago Pérez, Planadas, and Gaitania, threatening to treat non-compliant vehicles as military targets.

Governor Adriana Magali Matiz and the Planadas Mayor’s Office have both officially declared the communication to be false, urging citizens not to share or replicate the information to avoid causing unnecessary fear or disrupting commercial activities.

This misinformation follows a recent law enforcement operation in Ataco, where security forces intercepted three fuel tankers and seized 3,390 gallons of diesel. The vehicles, which had documentation indicating a destination of Turbo, Antioquia, were found traveling toward the south of Tolima. The seizure was conducted due to inconsistencies regarding regulatory requirements for fuel transport.
