Tolima Folkloric Festival Drives Major Economic Boost

The 52nd Festival Folclórico Colombiano in Tolima generated a strong economic upswing for the department. The Tolima Liquor Factory, promoting its Aguardiente Tapa Roja and Aguardiente Rosado brands, highlighted its role in the celebrations, noting that the festival helped transfer more than 6 billion Colombian pesos to health, education and sport projects and contributed to the government's target of over 40 billion pesos in social investment.

The Tolima Economic Guild reported preliminary gains across sales, tourism and hotel occupancy, citing a surge in sales of traditional foods such as tamales and higher demand for hotels, restaurants, transport and local crafts. Early indicators suggest a 25‑40 % increase in commercial activity compared with normal periods, with hotel occupancy projected at 85‑90 %. The event attracted visitors from other Colombian regions and abroad, reinforcing the festival’s status as a key driver of regional development.
