Tolima municipalities prioritized for $515,000 million investment

The government of President Abelardo de la Espriella has announced the first phase of the ‘El Milagro de las Regiones’ program, allocating an estimated $515,000 million to 187 projects across 187 municipalities. The selection followed a review of 1,274 proposals submitted by 447 municipalities.

In the department of Tolima, 20 municipalities were prioritized for investment, including Alpujarra, Alvarado, Ambalema, Armero, Carmen de Apicalá, Coello, Dolores, Falan, Flandes, Fresno, Herveo, Icononzo, Melgar, Natagaima, Ortega, Palocabildo, Prado, Roncesvalles, Rovira, and San Luis.

Several significant locations were excluded from this initial stage, including the capital city of Ibagué and the economically important municipality of El Espinal. Other excluded areas include Chaparral, Honda, and Lérida. The exclusion of major population and commercial centers like El Espinal has raised questions among local political and social sectors regarding the selection process and future investment phases.
