Toliou and Stamatouros advance to Mediterranean Games round of 16

Greek table tennis players Katerina Toliou and Giorgos Stamatouros have advanced to the round of 16 at the Mediterranean Games in Massara.

In the women's singles, Toliou secured a 4-0 set victory against Tunisia's 15-year-old Elaa Saidi. Despite a close third set that went to extra points, Toliou's defensive experience allowed her to control the match. She is scheduled to face Serbia's Isabella Lupulescu in the next round.

In the men's singles, Stamatouros defeated Tunisia's Wassim Essid with a 4-1 set score. After a strong start, Stamatouros had to overcome a late challenge in the fourth set before securing the win. His next opponent will be Italy's John Ojembo.
