Tollywood box office performance shows mixed results in 2026

The Telugu film industry, known as Tollywood, has experienced a mixed performance at the box office in 2026. While several films have achieved significant gross earnings, high production costs have prevented some from becoming profitable.

As of now, ‘Peddi’ is the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year with approximately Rs. 340 crores, though trade experts classify it as ‘Average to Below Average’ due to its massive investment and high breakeven requirements. ‘Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu’ has emerged as a ‘Superhit’ with Rs. 301 crores, while ‘Irumudi’ is noted as a ‘Huge Blockbuster’ after grossing Rs. 120 crores in just six days.

Conversely, some high-profile releases have struggled. ‘The Raja Saab’ is described as an ‘Epic Disaster,’ earning only about 50% of the Rs. 400 crores required for breakeven. Additionally, ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ has been labeled a disaster. Despite the growth in business, no Telugu film has crossed the Rs. 500-crore gross mark this year.
