Tolosa residents demand increased police patrols amid rising robberies

Residents of Tolosa gathered again on Tuesday evening at the intersection of 118 and 526, displaying signs such as “Seguridad ya”, “Presencia policial”, “Tolosa los necesita” and “Queremos salir sin miedo”. The protest, organized by the Asamblea Vecinal de Tolosa and led by spokesperson Eduardo Hache, highlighted a surge in robberies, assaults and vehicle break‑ins that the community says have persisted for months.

Witnesses recounted recent incidents, including two youths attacked by armed motorcyclists with knives, the looting of the Autonomía children’s club, and repeated street thefts. One resident, Horacio, described four robbery attempts on his own home and said the crimes now occur at any hour. Protesters accused some perpetrators of being known to the neighbourhood and acting with impunity.

The demonstrators announced plans to submit a formal request for a meeting with the Subsecretaría de Participación Ciudadana and the municipal Secretaría de Seguridad, demanding permanent police patrols, additional officers for the Sexta and Undécima precincts, and a sustained security presence in the area.
