Tolu Arokodare loaned from Wolves to Ajax with option to buy

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has completed a season‑long loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Dutch champions AFC Ajax. The agreement includes an option for Ajax to purchase the 25‑year‑old for a fee reported around £17‑22 million at the end of the 2024‑25 campaign.

Arokodare, who joined Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk last summer for a reported £24 million, struggled to establish himself in the Premier League, scoring three league goals and making 38 appearances across all competitions. Relations with the club deteriorated after Wolves' relegation, leading to a training‑ground dispute that was later denied by the player. The loan offers him a chance to revive his career, with Ajax viewing him as a potential replacement for outgoing striker Wout Weghorst.

In his first interview with Ajax, Arokodare expressed delight, saying he never imagined playing for the historic club and looks forward to contributing to the team's domestic and European ambitions. He becomes the eighth Nigerian to represent Ajax, joining a legacy that includes Finidi George and Nwankwo Kanu.
