Tolu Arokodare scores for Ajax despite fitness concerns

Ajax striker Tolu Arokodare, currently on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, has made a significant impact in the Eredivisie, scoring just two minutes after coming off the bench in a 2-2 draw against Excelsior. The 25-year-old has recorded six goals in nine appearances since joining the Dutch side.

Despite his recent success, Arokodare admitted he is not yet fully recovered from a severe fever that caused him to miss a previous match. He noted that he felt physically weak during his recent appearance, stating, “I needed this match to realize that I am not yet 100 percent fit. I still feel weak.”

His performance has drawn praise from opposition, with Excelsior manager Ruben den Uli describing the Nigerian forward as a “cheat code” due to his strength and ability to score even when heavily marked. Arokodare's fitness remains a point of interest as Nigeria prepares for upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
