Tolu Arokodare shines in Ajax victory over FC Sion

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has made a significant impact in his early tenure at Ajax, following a loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers. During a UEFA Conference League play-off match against FC Sion, Arokodare entered as a substitute and scored a header just 43 seconds after coming onto the pitch to reclaim the lead for the Dutch side. He later provided an assist for Davy Klaassen to secure a 4-2 victory.

Following the performance, Ajax head coach Míchel Sánchez praised the striker’s energy and work rate. Former Ajax midfielder Richard Witschge also lauded Arokodare’s clinical finishing and physical presence, suggesting the striker has earned a starting position in the lineup.

Arokodare stated that he has moved past his previous difficulties at Wolves and is focused on personal improvement and contributing to the new season with Ajax. He has recorded one goal and two assists in four appearances for the club so far.
