Toluca advances talks to sign Uruguay striker Federico Viñas

Toluca and León are in negotiations to transfer the rights of 28‑year‑old Uruguayan forward Federico Viñas. The talks are being led by Toluca director Francisco Suinaga and Jesús Martínez Patiño of Grupo Pachuca. Viñas, who featured for Uruguay at the 2026 World Cup, most recently played for Real Oviedo in Spain, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in 34 matches before the club’s relegation. Earlier this season he impressed with León, netting 16 goals in 33 league games, and he previously spent time with América.

Toluca hopes to add Viñas to partner with Portuguese striker Paulinho in the team’s attack for the current Liga MX campaign. The player has not ruled out staying in Europe, but the club’s officials remain optimistic that a high‑value agreement can be reached.
