Toluca celebrates seventh anniversary of Municipal Institute of Women

The Municipal Institute of Women of Toluca (IMM) is celebrating its seventh anniversary. During the commemorative event, Mayor Ricardo Moreno Bastida highlighted that Toluca is a pioneer in the State of Mexico, being the only municipality in the region with a decentralized public organism dedicated specifically to the defense and support of women.

Mayor Moreno emphasized the administration's commitment to substantive equality, noting that gender parity has been achieved within the City Council, with women currently heading half of the municipal directorates. The administration is also working to certify cabinet members in gender perspective standards.

Celfa Vázquez González, the Director General of the IMM, reflected on the institute's origins, noting that the initiative was proposed in 2019 to create a dedicated body for addressing abuse in homes, public offices, and streets. The institute continues to provide support and strengthen reporting channels for women.
