Toluca implements adolescent pregnancy prevention programs

The Toluca municipal government is continuing its efforts to prevent adolescent pregnancy through a multi-agency approach involving education, health services, and the promotion of sexual and reproductive rights. These initiatives are coordinated by the Municipal Group for the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy (GMPEA), which includes the Municipal DIF System, the General Directorate of Social Welfare, and several other local departments.

According to reports from the Municipal Institute for Women, the program has benefited 5,561 students across 26 educational institutions in 15 delegations and three sub-delegations. Specific activities included 44 pregnancy prevention talks, health fairs, and informative modules. Additionally, the government conducted 13 talks on violence prevention and organized two service fairs to address various forms of violence. These strategies aim to align with the National Strategy for the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy (ENAPEA) to provide safer environments for youth development.
