Toluca reports $1 billion in investment and 10,000 new jobs
Toluca is experiencing significant economic growth, with Mayor Ricardo Moreno reporting over one billion dollars in combined foreign and national investment for 2026. Approximately 80 percent of these projects, spanning the automotive, pharmaceutical, chemical, and food sectors, have already materialized, resulting in the creation of over 10,000 new jobs.
In conjunction with this economic activity, the city is preparing for the Alfeñique Festival. To ensure public safety and mobility during large-scale concerts, the municipal government is implementing a comprehensive strategy including the ‘Alfeñique Bus’ special transport service, facial recognition technology, and coordinated efforts with the local bus terminal. Local parking associations have expressed willingness to extend service hours provided that security and lighting standards are met.
Additionally, the municipal administration is focusing on urban maintenance and community infrastructure. Recent efforts include the restoration of 20 traditional community laundry facilities in the La Teresona neighborhood, which had been abandoned for six years, as well as various beautification projects in public parks and plazas.
