Toluca Mayor Ricardo Moreno to undergo spinal surgery

Ricardo Moreno Bastida, the municipal president of Toluca, announced that he will undergo spinal surgery next Tuesday. Due to the procedure, he will temporarily step away from in-person public activities for at least a week, though he intends to monitor municipal operations closely from his home.

Moreno Bastida emphasized that city administration activities will continue without interruption and that a representative will act on his behalf during his recovery. He noted his intention to return to supervising public works as soon as possible, despite medical recommendations for rest.

In addition to his health update, the mayor discussed ongoing infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of Avenida Vicente Lombardo Toledano and the repaving of Paseo Matlazincas. He highlighted the ‘Sendero Seguro’ (Safe Path) initiative, which aims to improve security and urban mobility, noting that such projects have contributed to reductions in certain crimes like robbery and homicide.
