Toluca officials and residents plant olive trees at Cerro del Perico

The government of Toluca and residents of San Pablo Autopan have collaborated to support the environmental recovery of Cerro del Perico. As part of this initiative, 15 olive trees, each over ten years old and measuring between three and five meters in height, were planted in a strategic location.

This project, led by Municipal President Ricardo Moreno, aims to improve the local landscape, conserve soil, and provide environmental benefits to regional families. The olive trees were selected for their ability to capture carbon dioxide, mitigate climate change effects, and their deep root systems which help prevent soil erosion caused by wind and rain.

This planting marks the first stage of a larger effort, contributing to a broader annual Reforestation and Forest Restoration Plan for 2026, which includes more than 135,000 trees.
