Toluca police arrest ten in coordinated vehicle theft operation

Authorities in Toluca, Estado de México, conducted coordinated operations to combat vehicle theft, resulting in the arrest of ten individuals. The joint effort between the Municipal Police and the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México (FGJEM) targeted various zones to identify illicitly obtained units.

In San Cristóbal Huichochitlán, eight individuals and one minor were detained. Officers seized three motorcycles without license plates or visible identification numbers, a short firearm, and a motor with a filed-off identification number. In a separate action in the El Seminario neighborhood, one man was arrested on a motorcycle; authorities recovered a knife, suspected marijuana, and a metallic object. Local residents identified the suspect as a person allegedly responsible for cell phone thefts.

Additionally, as part of the ‘Moto Segura’ program led by Mayor Ricardo Moreno, the Toluca Municipal Police have removed 762 motorcycles from circulation between January and mid-September due to traffic violations. This includes 16 motorcycles with theft reports. The program has also led to the detention of 31 people for various offenses, including concealment, drug offenses, and presenting false documentation.
