Tom Aspinall denies rumors of leaving the UFC
UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has officially denied rumors that he intends to leave the promotion. The announcement follows speculation triggered by comments from his striking coach, Stipe Drvis, and concerns regarding Aspinall's recent management shift to Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Talent Agency.
Aspinall has been sidelined for approximately ten months following a no-contest bout against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321, where he suffered a serious eye injury. He was subsequently diagnosed with bilateral traumatic Brown's syndrome, necessitating three surgeries. While he has been medically cleared to train, a specific return date has not been set.
UFC CEO Dana White confirmed that the relationship between the organization and Aspinall remains solid. White stated, “He’s not going anywhere. He’s with us, and we’re good with Tom Aspinall,” noting that his return depends entirely on his health. A potential unification bout with interim champion Ciryl Gane remains a possibility for later this year.
