Tom Brack welcomes integration of Kurdish units into Syrian Army

U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Tom Brack has described the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian state institutions as a ‘historic development.’ This follows the announcement by SDF leader Mazloum Abdi that the group will dissolve as an independent military entity after completing its merger into the Syrian Army.

Brack stated that this transition is part of a broader Middle East plan led by President Donald Trump, aimed at moving from a partnership with Washington toward a unified Syrian national framework. The integration process includes the recognition of the Kurdish language in education and the inclusion of key Kurdish leaders, such as Mazloum Abdi and Ilham Ahmed, in essential roles within the Syrian government.

According to the envoy, the move is intended to transform previous divisions into a sustainable partnership, fostering a diplomatic solution that enhances Syrian sovereignty and unity. He emphasized that the goal is not a victory for one side over another, but rather a cooperation between different parties to build a shared future, concluding with the sentiment: ‘One army, one government, one state.’
