Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway will star in the sequel to the 1990 racing film ‘Days of Thunder’, which is scheduled for release on June 2, 2028. Cruise will reprise his role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, while Hathaway is set to play a race team owner and engineer.

The announcement was made at the Daytona International Speedway. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film, which is being produced by Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Tommy Harper. Jonathan Levine is attached to direct, with a screenplay by Will Staples.

The production is planned for premium formats, including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and 4DX. Cruise noted that the film aims to explore the NASCAR community and the people behind the racing, rather than focusing solely on the competition itself.
