Tom Cruise has announced that a sequel to the 1990 film ‘Days of Thunder’ is officially in production, with a scheduled release date of June 2, 2028. Cruise will reprise his role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle. Anne Hathaway is set to co-star as a team owner and engineer.

Directed by Jonathan Levine and produced by Paramount, the project features a script being written by Will Staples. NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been involved in helping develop the storyline to ensure authenticity. Earnhardt has expressed excitement for the project while urging the production team to include ‘Easter eggs’ and details from the original film, such as the iconic barn location near Mooresville, North Carolina, to maintain a connection for fans.
