Tom Cruise celebrates 46-year film career and previews transformative role in Alejandro Iñárritu’s ‘Digger’

Tom Cruise marked 46 years in the movie industry with a retrospective video shared on social media. The clip highlighted iconic roles from "Top Gun" to "Mission: Impossible," and included his thanks to the many artists and crews he has worked with.

The video ended with the first footage from Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s upcoming film “Digger.” In it, Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, an oil baron whose company may trigger an environmental catastrophe that could spiral into a nuclear conflict. The role features a dramatic physical transformation – a Southern accent, thinning white hair, and a noticeable beer‑belly.

The cast also includes John Goodman as an ailing U.S. president urging Rockwell to fix the crisis, along with Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons. Warner Bros. describes the movie as a “comedy of catastrophic proportions.” The first trailer is set for July 13, and the film is scheduled to open on October 2.
