Tom Cruise promotes ‘Days of Thunder’ sequel at Daytona

Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer visited Daytona International Speedway during the NASCAR Cup Series weekend to discuss the upcoming sequel to ‘Days of Thunder’. Cruise will reprise his role as Cole Trickle, and Anne Hathaway has joined the cast, portraying a race team owner and engineer.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 2, 2028, with production expected to begin in early 2027. Directed by Jonathan Levine and written by Will Staples, the project aims for high authenticity by working closely with current NASCAR drivers and teams.

During a drivers' meeting, Cruise expressed a desire to capture the broader culture and people of the sport rather than just the racing itself. NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney noted that the filmmakers are actively gathering information from the garage to ensure the sequel accurately represents the sport.
