Tom Cruise has reflected on his difficult experience working with director Ridley Scott on the 1985 fantasy film ‘Legend’. The production was marked by significant challenges, including a large fire that destroyed sets and a strained working relationship between the actor and the director.

During filming, Cruise also dealt with the personal tragedy of his father's death. The film, which featured Cruise as a forest dweller named Jack, failed to recoup its $25 million budget and received poor critical reception. Cruise later described feeling like ‘just another color in a Ridley Scott painting’ and stated he would never make such a film again. However, his career rebounded quickly the following year with the success of ‘Top Gun’.
