Tom Cruise Transforms for Alejandro Iñárritu's Film “Digger”
Hollywood star Tom Cruise has undergone a dramatic physical makeover for his role as eccentric oil tycoon Digger Rockwell in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s upcoming film “Digger”. The trailer, unveiled at Warner Bros. Studios, shows Cruise with grey hair, a fuller stomach and a markedly aged appearance, a stark contrast to his usual leading‑man look.
“I’ve never done anything like this before,” Cruise said about the demanding stunt‑heavy role, which includes climbing the world’s tallest building and other extreme sequences. Iñárritu, the Oscar‑winning Mexican director, chose Cruise because “the film needed him.” The comedy‑drama, set to premiere in October, follows Rockwell’s Greenland drilling that triggers a global environmental disaster, forcing him to attempt a redemption.
The cast also features John Goodman as the U.S. President, alongside Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Emma D’Arcy and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film marks Iñárritu’s return after a period of inactivity, and early reactions suggest a strong visual impact and potential awards buzz.
