Tom Cruise’s radical transformation for upcoming film Digger

Hollywood star Tom Cruise unveiled a dramatic physical makeover for his new dark‑comedy film Digger, in which he portrays eccentric oil‑baron Digger Rockwell, described as “the most powerful man in the world.” The trailer, released at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, shows Cruise with heavy facial prosthetics, a gray comb‑over, a prominent pot‑belly and false teeth, making him virtually unrecognisable. Cruise said his process was “I’m absorbing, I’m absorbing,” while director Alejandro González Iñárritu called the transformation “astonishing.”

The film, directed by the double‑Academy‑Award winner Iñárritu, is slated for worldwide release on 1 October 2026 (2 October in India and Mexico) and will be shown in IMAX and standard cinemas. It features an ensemble cast that includes John Goodman, Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, Emma D’Arcy and others. Early reactions note the role could be an Oscar‑season vehicle for Cruise, who has never won a competitive Academy Award.

Production notes mention the movie was shot entirely in VistaVision and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, with additional releases planned across multiple territories.
