Tom Cruise's 'Digger' Film Unveils Promo Amid Casting Shift Involving Vir Das
Hollywood’s upcoming comedy "Digger", directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, will open on October 2, 2026. The film stars Tom Cruise as oil magnate Digger Rockwell, a character linked to an environmental catastrophe that could trigger a global crisis. A new promotional video featuring Cruise in character was released ahead of his appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 closing ceremony in New York‑New Jersey, where he references football legends such as Pelé, Maradona and Messi.
Indian comedian‑actor Vir Das revealed he auditioned for a role alongside Cruise but the part ultimately went to Riz Ahmed. Das said he completed two auditions and expressed disappointment after the casting decision, noting the opportunity would have placed him in one of the most talked‑about projects of 2026.
