Tom Cruise's 'Digger' slated for October 2, 2026 release

The upcoming film *Digger*, starring Tom Cruise and directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on October 2, 2026. An online listing suggests a runtime of about 2 hours 40 minutes, making it longer than most Marvel Cinematic Universe movies but shorter than Cruise’s earlier epic *Magnolia*.

The dark‑comedy follows the character Digger Rockwell, a powerful billionaire trying to avert a global catastrophe he helped create. The cast includes Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke and Burn Gorman. Cinematography is handled by Oscar‑winner Emmanuel Lubezki, and the screenplay was co‑written by Iñárritu, Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolás Giacobone. Early footage shows Cruise under heavy prosthetics for the role.
