Tom Dundon commits to Moda Center and Portland Trail Blazers championship goal

Portland Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon has addressed concerns regarding the future of the franchise and the Moda Center in an email to season ticket holders. Dundon emphasized a long-term commitment to the arena, stating his goal is to ensure the facility remains one of the best in the NBA. This communication appears to mitigate fears regarding potential team relocation that had been fueled by discussions surrounding arena renovations.

Dundon expressed his intention to bring a championship to Portland, drawing parallels to his success with the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL. While he did not provide specific details regarding renovation financing or finalized agreements, he noted his respect for the local fanbase's expectations. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has previously characterized the loss of the team from Portland as a ‘failure,’ highlighting the importance of reaching a sustainable agreement for the franchise.
