Tom Emmer criticizes Senate Republicans over stalled agenda

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer has publicly criticized Senate Republicans for failing to advance President Trump’s legislative agenda. During a closed-door fundraiser, Emmer expressed frustration with the Senate’s inability to pass conservative priorities, reportedly telling donors, “Don’t just keep telling me ‘Don’t have the votes. Don’t have the votes.’ You suck.”

Emmer mocked the Senate’s culture and suggested that the Republican party should “get rid of the darn filibuster” to force decisive action on legislation passed by the House. He noted that House members often pass difficult votes only to see them stall in the Senate process.

In response, an unnamed Republican aide suggested that the party should focus its efforts on Democrats rather than internal friction, noting that losing the Senate majority would be a worse outcome.
