Tom Felton’s return boosts Harry Potter Broadway box office

The Broadway production of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ saw a significant increase in box office revenue following the return of actor Tom Felton to his role as Draco Malfoy. For the week ending September 27, the play grossed more than $1.57 million, a substantial rise from the previous week’s $906,000.

This growth occurred despite an overall decline in Broadway performance, as total grosses fell 11% to over $24 million and attendance dropped 11% during a weekend impacted by a Nor’easter in New York. ‘Cursed Child’ recorded the largest week-over-week gain among 26 Broadway productions, ranking among the top earners alongside ‘Hamilton’ and ‘The Lion King’.

Following positive reception, Felton’s schedule has been extended through January 3, 2027. The production is currently playing at the Lyric Theatre.
