Tom Hanks says Disney could use AI to recreate Woody's voice for Toy Story 6
Actor Tom Hanks told Entertainment Weekly that Disney could use artificial intelligence to piece together his previous recordings of Woody and generate a new voice for a potential Toy Story 6. He said, “Every word we have ever recorded in Toy Story is on digital media somewhere, so they could put together anything they would want,” adding that “time is undefeated.”
Hanks also cautioned that any sequel should be “worthwhile” and “great,” insisting a fresh story is needed rather than extending the franchise for profit. He noted that AI technology raises artistic and legal challenges but could allow performers to continue appearing on screen after death.
The comments come as Toy Story 5 enjoys a strong box‑office opening, prompting speculation about future installments in the Pixar franchise.
