Tom Hanks to return to Broadway in 2027 with new play

Actor Tom Hanks is set to return to Broadway in the fall of 2027 for a limited engagement of 'This World of Tomorrow'. This marks his first Broadway appearance in 14 years, following his 2013 role in 'Lucky Guy'.

The production is a time-travel romance co-written by Hanks and James Glossman, based on short stories from Hanks' 2017 book 'Uncommon Type'. The plot follows scientist Bert Allenberry, who travels from the late 21st century back to the 1939 New York World’s Fair in Queens to attempt to change his future.

Hanks will reunite with Tony Award-winning actress Kelli O’Hara, who played Carmen in the play's previous Off-Broadway run at The Shed. The production will be directed by Kenny Leon and is scheduled to play at a Shubert theatre, though the specific venue has not yet been announced.
