Tom Hanks in talks to star in Warner Bros. adaptation of ‘Theo of Golden’

Tom Hanks is reportedly in discussions to star in and produce a film adaptation of Allen Levi’s bestselling novel, ‘Theo of Golden’. Warner Bros. Pictures is negotiating the film rights for the project.

The story follows Theo, a mysterious elderly man who arrives in the fictional town of Golden and begins an anonymous campaign of generosity by purchasing and returning local pencil portraits to residents. Through these interactions, he builds connections with the community while confronting a tragedy from his own past.

Originally self-published by Levi in 2023, the novel became a global phenomenon, selling over 3.5 million copies and being translated into 43 languages. If the deal is finalized, Hanks will serve as an executive producer alongside Levi, Gil Netter, Gary Goetzman, Jesse Ehrman, and Sheila Walcott.
